- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
PTH is synthesized in epithelial cells. Its secretion depends on the concentration of ionized calcium in the blood flowing through the parathyroid glands.
Indications for the test include impaired calcium and phosphate metabolism,
urolithiasis, renal failure, and
malabsorption syndrome.
