Description
Anti-granulocyte antibody testing is performed in the diagnosis of vasculitis.
cANCA antibodies show high specificity and sensitivity for Wegener's granulomatosis.
It is a chronic, progressive
with fever and granuloma formation affecting primarily the nasopharynx, lungs
and kidneys.
The titers of these antibodies are correlated
with the clinical activity of the disease.
Myeloperoxidase antibodies, which are present in the form of pANCA antibodies, can indicate life-threatening conditions
i.e. Gromerulonephritis rapid progressiva, Polyangiitis microscopica and other forms of vasculitis.
pANCA is also detected in the course of Colitis ulcerosa, Cholangitis primaria scleroticans.
The test is performed by indirect imunofluorescence using a smear of granulocytes,
as well as the ELISA method, which allows the analysis of antibodies directed against specific antigens - enzymes, contained in granulocyte granules - proteinase 3, lactoferrin, myeloperoxidase, elastase, cathepsin G, lysozyme.
