- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Detection of anti-SLA/LP autoantibodies by indirect immunofluorescence, using the CBA test, is useful in the diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis, including AIH1. The presence of anti-SLA/LP may indicate a more serious form of AIH:
with a more severe course;
with treatment resistance;
with a higher risk of relapse after treatment discontinuation and a potentially worse prognosis.
These autoantibodies are detected in approximately 10–30% of patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). The disease develops primarily after adolescence and most often has a chronic course, less frequently acute or acute and severe. Typical autoimmune diseases coexisting with AIH include autoimmune thyroiditis and rheumatic diseases.
