Preparation for the examination

General

Material should be collected before starting treatment with antimicrobial agents and antibiotics.
On the day of the examination, the genital area should be washed without using soap or gel.

Specific for women

Hygienic procedures using disinfectants and intravaginal medicinal preparations should not be performed.

Important

If further microbiological diagnostics are necessary, the time it takes to issue the result may be longer.

Description

The test is intended to detect Streptococcus agalactiae infection in the vagina or perianal area and determine the pathogen's sensitivity to antibiotics. These bacteria can cause perinatal infections, bacterial infections of the vagina and cervical canal in women, which may be one of the causes of infertility.
