- Before collecting the sample, hygiene procedures involving disinfectants or intravaginal medications should be avoided.
A culture is performed for aerobic bacteria.
Important
We perform cultures for aerobic bacteria and yeast-like fungi.
An antibiogram is performed when bacteria and yeast-like fungi are detected, which are the etiological factor of the ongoing vaginal inflammation.
Culturing bacteria that constitute the natural vaginal flora does not provide grounds for performing an antibiogram.
A vaginal swab should be taken before antibiotic therapy is initiated.
The test should not be performed during menstruation.
