Rectal swab culture for SS carrier status – 1 test for the health booklet

• Store the collected sample at room temperature until the material is delivered to the laboratory.
• Collect the material using a sterile swab from the bacteriological transport kit (available at collection points)
• Culture is performed for aerobic bacteria.
• To perform the test, rectal swabs are collected on three
  consecutive days.
  One sample is collected each day.
  On the day of the third swab, the swabs are delivered to the
  collection point. The date of collection is marked on each swab.
  To collect the swab, gently insert the swab into
  the rectum (to a depth of 2-3 cm) and rotate the swab several times.
  After collecting the sample, place the swab in a tube with
  transport medium.
  The rectal swab is considered to be successfully collected when
  a trace of stool is visible on the swab.
• Swabs can be submitted for analysis at any Luxmed CM facility.

If further microbiological diagnostics are necessary, the time it takes to issue the result may be longer.

The test is performed for the health record.
NOTE:
Pursuant to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 26, 2020 (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1118), a positive test result is subject to mandatory reporting by the laboratory performing the test to the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.
