Description of the study

Posturography consists of a static and a dynamic component (on a moving platform). It is an objective method for assessing the functional status of the balance system, which monitors the shift in the subject's center of gravity. It is used in the diagnosis of patients with damage to the balance system (vestibular neuronitis, posttraumatic labyrinth damage, Meniere's disease) and patients with central balance disorders. The test is also used in the diagnosis and assessment of geriatric patients.
The test assesses both the labyrinthine system itself and visual and somatostatic (proprioceptive) functions. The patient stands on a platform (first stationary, then moving) attempting to maintain balance while visually controlling a reference point, with eyes closed and with optokinesis (visual distraction).

Rehabilitation on the platform involves selecting appropriate exercises and performing them using the stationary and dynamic base of the posturograph. Depending on the type of disorder (central, peripheral, post-traumatic, or other), this allows for the tailoring of effective therapy through habituation or lesion substitution. The selection of exercises depends on the diagnosis and aims to identify the best solutions for each individual patient.
