Description

The Neuronal Profile Assay is used for the qualitative in vitro determination of human IgG class antibodies against the antigens amphiphysin, CV2, PNMA2 (Ma2/Ta), Ri, Yo, Hu in blood serum.

These antigens, presented by tumor cells depending on the type of cancer, can cause the production of specific autoantibodies.

Autoantibodies bind to the corresponding antigens located in neural tissues and are probably involved in the formation of neurological disorders
known as paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS).

Paraneoplastic syndromes are syndromes of clinical symptoms accompanying a malignant tumor that are not due to vascular complications,
infectious or side effects of treatment. They are caused by an immune response triggered by the neoplasm that takes place at sites distant
from the primary tumor or metastasis.

The diagnosis of malignancy may be preceded by PNS and the presence of the above-mentioned antibodies.

Determination of antibodies to amphiphysin, CV2, PNMA2 (Ma2/Ta), Ri, Yo, Hu is the basis for diagnosis and control of the course of the disease and therapy of paraneoplastic syndrome.
