Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Important
Eating a meal does not directly affect the result, but may cause lipemia in the blood serum, which may interfere with the test, therefore it is recommended to collect blood 1-2 hours after the last meal
Description
HCV is currently considered the primary, if not the sole, causative agent of blood-borne non-A, non-B hepatitis (NANBH). Studies worldwide have shown that HCV is transmitted through contaminated blood and blood products, blood transfusion, or other close personal contact. The presence of anti-HCV antibodies in serum may indicate that a person has been infected with HCV and may be capable of transmitting the infection.
