Description
Antibodies against liver and kidney microsomes (LKM) are present in various forms of chronic hepatitis.
Antibodies against LKM-1 are considered a marker of autoimmune type II hepatitis.
Children constitute 50 to 75% of all affected patients. Extrahepatic manifestations, such as arthralgia, glomerulonephritis, vitiligo, and chronic inflammatory liver disease, are often associated with autoimmune hepatitis.
