Description
The cells lining the gastric mucosa produce hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor.
Antibodies against gastric lining cells are detected in patients with chronic atrophic gastritis and pernicious anemia (associated with vitamin B12 deficiency), as well as in patients with endocrinopathies and
in asymptomatic individuals. The antibodies mostly belong to the IgA and IgG classes.
