Description
Mycoplasma hominis causes inflammation of the urethra, cervix, and vagina. It can sometimes cause mild bacteremia (e.g., after childbirth, miscarriage, or gynecological surgery)
, wound infections (e.g., after cesarean section), salpingitis, amniosis, and neonatal infection.
The bacterium is primarily transmitted through the reproductive organs.
IgG antibodies indicate a previous infection. These are immune antibodies that appear in the body approximately one month after infection.
They can persist in the body for life.
