Description
Mycoplasma hominis causes inflammation of the urethra, cervix, and vagina. It can sometimes cause mild bacteremia (e.g., after childbirth, miscarriage, or gynecological surgery) and wound infections (e.g., after cesarean section), salpingitis, amniosis, and neonatal infection.
The bacterium is primarily transmitted through the reproductive organs.
IgM antibodies indicate a recent, ongoing infection.
They appear in the body around the third day after infection and persist for approximately 1-2 months.
