IgG tissue transglutaminase antibodies (ELISA)

• The test material is blood.
• The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test it is advisable to drink a glass of water.

Do not eliminate gluten-containing foods from your diet before the test.

Celiac disease-a disorder of intestinal digestion and absorption associated with intolerance to gluten contained in cereals. The abnormal immune response is triggered by an excessive immune response to a group of cereal proteins called prolamins, more specifically, by its derived fractions gliadin (in wheat), secalin (in barley), hordein (in rye). Determination of tTG is a recommended screening test for people in whom celiac disease should be ruled out, as it has a very high sensitivity (more than 90% and specificity (almost 100%).

Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies in IgG class should be determined in all patients with suspected celiac disease in whom selective IgA antibody deficiency is found.
