General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Rubella is primarily a childhood disease; if contracted during pregnancy, it can cause numerous fetal defects (deafness, congenital heart defects).
The presence of specific IgG antibodies indicates a past illness, vaccination, or infection; to accurately determine the patient's condition, IgM antibodies should be measured or a repeat IgG antibody test performed.
An increase in antibody levels compared to the initial test indicates a current infection.
