Preparation for the examination
Specific for women
- The test material consists of a swab from the posterior vaginal fornix, collected by a doctor or midwife in a gynecological office.
The test should be performed before starting treatment or a few days after completing it. Women who are menstruating
cannot be included in the test. Women should avoid using disinfectants or intravaginal medications. Furthermore, on the day of the test, the genital area should be washed without soap or gels.
It is necessary to refrain from sexual intercourse for three days before the test.
Important
Samples brought from outside are not accepted for testing.
Description
The examination aims to assess the vaginal biocenosis (the number of bacteria, leukocytes, the presence of lactobacilli, yeast-like fungi, Trichomonas vaginalis), vaginal pH.
