Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Parotitis virus. Transmitted by droplet infection. The incubation period is 14-21 days.
This is a typical childhood infectious disease, manifesting as bilateral inflammation of the parotid glands and a low-grade fever.
Infection after puberty can lead to complications such as meningitis, orchitis, testicular atrophy, infertility, deafness, or pancreatic impairment, sometimes leading to diabetes.
NOTE:
Pursuant to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 26, 2020 (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1118), a positive test result must be reported by the laboratory performing the test to the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.
