Iron loading test 3 points (fasting, after 3 hours, after 5 hours)

  Po pobraniu krwi pacjent przyjmuje 6 tabletek (chyba, że lekarz zaleci inaczej)preparatu żelaza(np. Ascofer), preparat można popić wodą z dodatkiem soku z cytryny, odczyn kwaśny wspomaga wchłanianie żelaza.
  Następnie krew jest pobierana w odstępach czasowych zleconych przez lekarza.

Na badanie wymagane jest skierowanie od lekarza ze wskazaniem dawki oraz nazwy preparatu żelaza jakim pacjent ma byc obciążony.
Pacjent na badanie powinien zgłaszać się w godzinach rannych ( badanie trwa 5 godzin).
Próbki przyniesione z zewnątrz nie są przyjmowane do badania.

Żelazo jest składową enzymów, hemoglobiny. Magazynowane jest w wątrobie, śledzionie, szpiku kostnym jako ferrytyna. Uczestniczy w transporcie tlenu do komórek.
Znaczenie badania: przy podejrzeniu niedoboru żelaza, złego wchłaniania, do obliczenia wysycenia transferyny.
Wartości nieprawidłowe żelaza: przy przewlekłej utracie krwi, obfitych miesiączkach, w patologiach przewodu pokarmowego (zaburzenia wchłaniania),
w ciąży, podczas karmienia piersią, w stresie,
w infekcjach, stanach zapalnych, w nowotworach, w chorobach nerek.
