The test material is blood.
The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test, it is advisable to drink a glass of water or bitter(unsweetened) tea.

Description

Toxocariasis is one of many parasitic diseases carried by animals such as human companion dogs and cats. In humans, Toxocara species cause the disease known as wandering larvae syndrome. Infection most often occurs after ingestion of eggs found in dog and cat feces. The larvae hatch in the initial part of the small intestine, which then pass through the intestinal wall and travel to the lungs via blood and lymphatic vessels. Together with arterial blood, they spread throughout the body. In the region of the larvae capillaries leave the vessels and enter the tissues.
