Bone marrow trepanobiopsy

Bone marrow trepanobiopsy is a procedure during which material is collected - bone marrow with small bone fragments from the hip plate. This test is performed on doctor's orders in the diagnosis of many hematological diseases. The collected material is subjected to histopathological examination. Thanks to trepanobiopsy, it is possible to determine the cellularity of the bone marrow, its cellular composition, the diagnosis of bone marrow disease, the severity of fibrosis, the presence of foreign cells (such as metastases). The test is used to make a correct diagnosis. The examination is carried out in the supine position. The material is collected by performing a biopsy of the iliac plate.
Performing the procedure as for a bone marrow aspiration biopsy. A different needle is used for the test - dedicated to trepanobiopsy.
Contraindications:
Active bleeding, too low platelet count - the doctor decides, abnormal results of blood clotting tests, taking anticoagulants, inflammatory changes in the area of the puncture site.
