General
- The test material is blood.
- The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test, it is advisable to drink a glass of water or bitter(unsweetened) tea.
Description
Tryptase determination is helpful in estimating the risk of anaphylactic reaction in people who are allergic to hymenopterous insect venoms. The test is also useful for assessing the risk of anaphylactic reaction before implementing immunotherapy for the venoms. Tryptase is also a screening test for the diagnosis of mastocytosis.
