Description of the study

Abdominal ultrasound allows for the assessment of organ size and structure, the detection of inflammation, focal lesions, and congenital defects. During the examination, all abdominal organs are assessed: the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands (if visible, i.e., if lesions are present or the adrenal glands are enlarged), urinary bladder (if distended), and prostate gland. The examination also examines the presence of enlarged lymph nodes and fluid in the abdominal cavity. The aim of the examination is to diagnose the nature of pathological changes in internal organs.
The examination is performed on patients of all ages. It can be repeated multiple times without exposing the patient to harmful radiation and is painless.

Indications

  • abnormalities in laboratory tests,
  • pain in the abdominal cavity,
  • difficulties in urinating and defecating,
  • other disturbing changes in the body.
