Ultrasound assessment of ovulation

• The examination is performed transvaginally, or in the case of people who have not had sexual intercourse, through the abdominal wall.
• For a transvaginal examination, the bladder must be emptied.
• For transabdominal examination, the bladder should be filled.

This test uses ultrasound to visualize ovarian follicle development. Depending on the indication, transabdominal or transvaginal probes are used.
The purpose of the test is to assess ovarian follicle development (ovulation).
