Description of the study

Transthoracic ultrasound of the lungs in children is mainly a diagnostic method of lesions in contact with the pleura.
It is a non-invasive method of imaging the lungs, significantly improving the comprehensiveness of care for children.
Its advantages include the lack of exposure to X-rays, the ability to observe very small lesions that may not be visible on X-rays, and the possibility of multiple examinations in a short interval, so it is also possible to assess the effects of treatment.

Indications

When to perform a lung ultrasound in a child?

  • With symptoms of acute respiratory infection-suspected bronchitis or already pneumonia, emphysema, pleural fluid, interstitial lung disease,
  • Assessment of diaphragm mobility,
  • During prolonged coughing,
  • When we observe that their chest hurts,
  • If there is difficulty breathing or the child gets tired quickly,
  • After chest trauma.
