Description of the study
Ultrasound is the most effective diagnostic method for the Achilles tendon (also known as the calcaneal tendon or the calcaneal triceps tendon). It assesses the structure of the tendon, the presence of fluid under the tendon (inflammatory exudate), the tendon bursa, and the subcutaneous calcaneal bursa. It also assesses the bony contours of the calcaneus and the calcaneal attachment of the tendon.
Indications
- inflammatory process occurring in the tendon,
- damage (Achilles tendon rupture),
- a sudden or increasing feeling of limited mobility in a joint.
