Preparation for the examination

General

  • The test should not be performed in cases of exacerbation of heart failure, hypervolemia, urinary tract infections, or after significant physical exertion.
  • Morning urine for ACR testing – sample collection method.
    For testing, collect mid-morning urine (after urinating), i.e., after at least 8 hours of overnight rest, without emptying the bladder
    for at least 4 hours. Urine should be collected in a disposable container (no less than 10 ml).
    The sample container should be labeled.
  • The patient does not need to fast.

Description

The ACR index is used to assess albuminuria. The primary recommended use of albuminuria testing is in the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy, including its early detection. The test is also useful in diagnosing the early stages of chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease.
