What does a visit to a general surgeon look like?

A visit to a surgeon follows a similar pattern to other visits to specialists. It begins with the surgeon taking a detailed history of the patient's problems and symptoms with which he or she reports to the specialist, past diseases and surgical procedures, and medications taken. The surgeon will perform basic diagnostic tests, make recommendations for further treatment, and answer the patient's questions.
