Referrals for treatments in the treatment room and at the patient's home
In the treatment room, treatments and procedures are performed that are within the competence of the primary care physician and are directly related to the medical advice provided.
Treatments at the patient's home may only be performed if justified by the patient's health condition.
The order may be carried out by the nurse to whom the patient is registered if the doctor issues an appropriate referral.
The treatment room is open from Monday to Friday, during CM Luxmed working hours, excluding public holidays.
Referral for diagnostic tests
Your primary care physician only refers you for specific diagnostic tests. If, as a result of your medical advice, you require diagnostic tests, your physician will issue you a referral, which you can complete at the Luxmed Medical Center. Here's a list of diagnostic tests your primary care physician can refer you for:
- hematological
- biochemical and immunochemical
- urine
- feces
- coagulation system
- microbiological
- ultrasound diagnostics
- radiological images
- within the framework of the diagnostic budget entrusted
- as part of coordinated care (entrusted budget)
In 2022, a SARS-CoV-2 antigen test was added to the guaranteed benefits basket, performed directly at the facility during a medical consultation.
Your primary care physician may also refer you for an endoscopic examination of the gastrointestinal tract (gastroscopy, colonoscopy) and a computed tomography of the lungs if any abnormalities are detected.
DiLO – Oncological Diagnosis and Treatment Card
The Oncology Diagnostics and Treatment Card (DiLO) is issued to patients suspected of having cancer, based on test results from the primary care physician's diagnostic basket. Through DiLO, the family doctor directs the patient onto a fast-track treatment path: the card replaces a referral to a specialist and documents the entire diagnostic and treatment process.
Referral to a specialist or hospital
If necessary, the primary care physician refers the patient to a specialist clinic or hospital. In such cases, the physician attaches a copy of the diagnostic test results and consultations they have. Based on these, the physician makes a preliminary diagnosis and issues a referral.
The regulations stipulate that any doctor, including those who are not health insurance doctors, may issue a referral to a hospital when hospital treatment is necessary to achieve therapeutic goals that cannot be achieved through outpatient treatment.
Writing prescriptions
A primary care physician may also issue a prescription for medications recommended by another health insurance physician (e.g. neurologist, hematologist), provided that he has written information from that physician regarding the diagnosis of the patient's disease and the recommended pharmacotherapy.
A prescription can be issued during an in-person consultation, a teleconsultation, or a prescription consultation (the patient orders the prescription online).
Prescription advice is available to patients who:
- they have a subscription directly with CM Luxmed and/or have a declared primary care family doctor at CM Luxmed ,
- have full access to their e-Reservation account (they have authorized access),
Additional conditions:
- The prescription for the ordered drug has already been issued at CM Luxmed within the last 12 months.
- A prescription is issued for a drug that is taken on a permanent basis.
- The patient has the option of ordering a prescription for medications that have not yet been dispensed at CM Luxmed (they are not on the "Your medications" list).
When placing a prescription order, the patient enters the suggested medication and waits for the doctor to contact them for a tele-prescription consultation. - An online prescription can be extended for a maximum of 6 months of therapy.
- You can submit 1 e-Prescription application per day.
There may be situations where a prescription cannot be issued without the patient being present at the appointment. If a prescription cannot be issued based on the request, the patient will be notified.
In case of refusal, advice/teleconsultation with a doctor will be necessary.
Referral for spa treatment
Every physician collaborating with the National Health Fund (NFZ), meaning those with a contract to provide medical services or employed at a facility with such a contract, is authorized to refer patients for spa treatment financed by the NFZ. In the decision-making process, they must consider both the indications for this form of therapy and any contraindications.

Protective Vaccinations
Vaccinations can prevent or mitigate the severity of many infectious diseases, including life-threatening ones. The National Immunization Program for a given year is published by the Chief Sanitary Inspector in the Official Journal of the Minister of Health. It includes both mandatory vaccinations for children and adolescents and for individuals particularly at risk of infection, as well as a recommended vaccination program.
Order for medical products
The broad category of medical devices includes: hearing aids, contact lenses, orthopedic footwear, wheelchairs for the disabled, various prostheses, anti-bedsore mattresses, canes, crutches, diaper pants, catheters, and ostomy care equipment.
These products may be subsidized by the National Health Fund (NFZ), but a specific order is required. Such orders can be issued by physicians (including primary care physicians), nurses, midwives, paramedics, or physiotherapists, with the principle of specialization applying. For example, only an ophthalmologist can issue an order for glasses, while an orthopedist or neurologist, among others, can order a wheelchair. The process of issuing and reviewing orders for medical devices takes place during a consultation, teleconsultation, or specialist appointment. Physicians verify the order directly, thus avoiding the patient having to make an additional visit to the provincial NFZ branch.
