Description of the study

Colonoscopy is a procedure for diagnosing the large intestine using a flexible endoscope with a camera, called a video colonoscope, slowly inserted through the anus into the large intestine. The endoscope is gradually advanced through the entire large intestine, and in some cases, even into the initial part of the small intestine. This process allows for a thorough assessment of the mucosa of the lower gastrointestinal tract. During colonoscopy, a tissue sample may be collected for histopathological examination or the removal of a polyp. The collection procedure does not cause discomfort for the patient. Generally, patients tolerate colonoscopy well, and pain is a rare side effect.
