- In men, the sample material is urine. We perform the test without prior appointment – please check the opening hours of the collection point.
- The test material for women is a cervical smear. An appointment is required for the test. Samples collected by a doctor outside of Luxmed Medical Center can be delivered without prior appointment – check the opening hours of the collection point
Preparation for the examination
Specific for women
- The test should not be performed:
– during menstruation,
– during antibiotic treatment,
– during treatment with vaginal preparations (pessories, creams),
– when using douches,
– within 48 hours of the last sexual intercourse.
On the day of the test, wash the external genital area with a mild intimate hygiene gel; do not use soap.
If treatment was used, a 3-5-day break is recommended between the end of treatment
and the test. - The material for testing in women is a cervical smear.
Detailed for men
- The test material for men is urine (the first portion of urine from the night, approximately 15-30 ml in volume).
Men should refrain from sexual intercourse for three days before the test.
Furthermore, on the day of the test, the genital area should be washed without soap or gels.
Description
Chlamydia are Gram-negative bacteria adapted to intracellular life. Three species have been identified within this genus:
Chlamydia psittaci (causes ornithosis in humans), Chlamydia pneumoniae (associated with respiratory infections)
, and Chlamydia trachomatis (responsible for urogenital infections).
In adults, Chlamydia trachomatis infections
are transmitted through sexual contact. They cause lymphogranuloma venereum (Nicholas-Favre disease),
cervicitis, and non-nonococcal urethritis.
