Preparation for the study

General

The test material is blood.
The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test it is advisable to drink a glass of water.

Important

Before blood collection, avoid consuming excessive amounts of fat and do not take cholesterol-lowering medications unless your doctor has recommended otherwise.
Blood samples for routine lipid profile testing do not need to be taken on an empty stomach.
If the triglyceride concentration is > 400 mg/dl and is not determined on a non-fasting basis, the test should be repeated on a fasting basis.
