Description

The HCV virus is now considered the main, if not the only, causative agent of blood-borne, non-A, non-B (NANBH) hepatitis. Studies conducted around the world have shown that HCV is transmitted through infected blood and blood products, through blood transfusion or other close, personal contacts. The presence of anti-HCV antibodies in serum may indicate that the test subject has been infected with HCV and that he or she may be capable of transmitting the infection.
