Treponema pallidum-confirmation tests (FTA, TPHA, VDRL,FTA ABS)

• The test material is blood.

A common feature of all serologic tests for syphilis is the detection of antibodies in the blood serum of the patient being tested, indicating infection with the paleo-sclerosis. Serological reactions, depending on their specificity, are divided into classical and ileal. FTA,FTA ABS belong to the spirochete type of reaction.In these methods, pale spirochetes are used as antigens to induce a specific serological reaction with specific antibodies.A frequently used of this group is the FTA reaction, which consists in the fact that the spirochetes used bind to the antibodies of the syphilis patient's serum to form complexes, and then further added fluorescein-labeled antibodies bind to these complexes, causing luminescence.
