A doctor specializing in clinical genetics diagnoses genetically determined diseases and provides genetic counseling.
The genetic counseling center provides access to specialized tests such as:
- genetic tests indicating, for example, predisposition to breast or ovarian cancer, melanoma, colon or lung cancer,
- paternity testing,
- FMF prenatal tests,
- laboratory tests.
Depending on the needs, the geneticist may also order other tests to determine whether there is an infection in the body or whether the patient has previously had one, e.g. testing for Borrelia burgdorferi infection, rubella infection, or toxoplasmosis.
