People who have recovered from Covid are increasingly complaining of a deterioration in their health. This problem affects both patients who had very severe infections and those who experienced relatively mild illness. We now know more and more about the post-COVID syndrome. Doctors emphasize that rehabilitation is a crucial element of treatment, helping patients cope with the effects of the infection.

Long-term effects of COVID-19

Patients report them daily. Although doctors and scientists continue to analyze new data on recurring complications following COVID-19, many are already known. The coronavirus primarily attacks the respiratory system, with complications most often related to reduced respiratory function . Breathing disturbances, shortness of breath, and fatigue after exertion can occur . Patients report feeling short of breath during daily activities. This causes anxiety and stress, further impairing the body's respiratory function.

Not just a breathing problem

People who have had a coronavirus infection often experience fatigue, heart rhythm disturbances, and difficulty engaging in physical activity, which may be accompanied by symptoms of balance and coordination problems . Patients complain of muscle and joint pain and headaches .

Concentration and memory problems are recurring among those who have recovered. This makes it difficult to return to normal functioning at work or at home. Lack of motivation, stress, sadness, and even depression are other symptoms of the "post-COVID syndrome."

Rehabilitation after COVID-19

Professional medical rehabilitation helps in getting back into shape after recovering from Covid-19

The full consequences of COVID-19 are not yet known, so before you begin therapy, we will gather as much information as possible about your health. Choosing the right treatment requires a highly individualized and multidisciplinary approach. We begin with a consultation with a physiotherapist, which includes an interview, examination, and simple performance tests. Based on the collected data, the physiotherapist will work with you to determine the main problem and determine the number and frequency of treatments. The consultation also aims to identify any contraindications to physiotherapy to ensure a safe rehabilitation process for the patient.

Physiotherapist appointments last 60 minutes. During these visits, specialists utilize various techniques from selected physiotherapy methods, designed to focus on a pre-defined problem.

To achieve this, we use the following procedures:

  • manual therapy – “mobilization” of the ribs, chest, respiratory muscles, spine,
  • PNF – work on breathing patterns: upper and lower, activation of weakened respiratory tracts,
  • therapeutic massage,
  • general fitness exercises,
  • breathing exercises,
  • aerobic training.

After completing a series of treatments, you will meet with a physiotherapist for a final consultation to reassess your functional status and make final recommendations or continue physiotherapy.
